Give to Phase I of FTSP's special project
Friends of Taconic State Park
was established in the fall of 2008 when park supporters began meeting to
discuss how they could help promote historical, educational and recreational
activities within the park.
In March 2010 the Board of Directors, with the blessings of the New York State Office of Parks and Historic Preservation, unanimously adopted a 20 year plan to restore the Copake Iron Works site to the condition of its operating hey-day in the mid-1800s. The site is considered by experts to be a unique and important example of 19th century industrial history, the preservation of which should commence at once.
The first phase of this ambitious but eminently achievable plan is to erect an open air roof structure over the Copake Iron Works furnace. In November 2010, Friends of Taconic State Park was awarded a $73,785 New York State Environmental Protection Fund matching grant to help fund the cost of the first phase.
Thanks to the matching component of the Environmental Protection Fund, every contribution we receive from outside sources will be matched dollar for dollar.
Will you give as generously as possible to help us match this grant? With your gift, you will have the special satisfaction of knowing that your generosity has been doubled!
